Educational content only — this is not medical advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, obtain, or use MGF. Talk to a licensed clinician before making health decisions.
What it is
Mechano Growth Factor (MGF) refers to a splice variant of the IGF-1 gene (IGF-1Ec in humans) that is upregulated after exercise or tissue injury. It is thought to activate satellite cells and promote muscle repair. Synthetic MGF peptides sold online are not the same as endogenous MGF and are unregulated.
What the evidence shows
Preclinical studies show that MGF promotes muscle-cell proliferation and may aid recovery from injury in animal models. Human evidence is limited to basic research on IGF-1 splicing; no RCT has tested injectable synthetic MGF for muscle growth or recovery in people.
Risks & unknowns
Like other IGF-1-related peptides, MGF may stimulate cell proliferation and carries theoretical cancer risk. Human pharmacology and toxicity are unknown. Unregulated products are a major concern.
Legal / regulatory status
MGF is not FDA-approved and is prohibited by WADA under S2.
