What it is
Hexarelin is a hexapeptide GH secretagogue and ghrelin receptor agonist. In animal studies it produces strong, dose-dependent GH release and has cardioprotective effects in some models independent of GH. It was investigated for cardiac indications but never approved.
What the evidence shows
Animal studies show robust GH release and some evidence of cardioprotective effects via direct cardiac receptor activation. Human pharmacology data are limited to older small studies. No large RCT has established efficacy or safety for body composition, heart disease, or any approved indication.
Risks & unknowns
Hexarelin strongly stimulates GH and may also increase cortisol and prolactin. Cardiac effects seen in animals are not established as beneficial in humans. Long-term safety is unknown.
Legal / regulatory status
Hexarelin is not FDA-approved and is prohibited by WADA under S2.
