What it is

GHRP-6 is a hexapeptide that activates the ghrelin/GHS-R1a receptor to trigger GH release from the pituitary. Unlike GHRP-2 and ipamorelin, it is well known in animal studies for producing marked appetite stimulation, making it less attractive for fat-loss goals and more associated with weight-gain protocols.

What the evidence shows

GHRP-6 increases GH in animal models and human pharmacology studies. It has been used experimentally to study ghrelin signaling. No robust human RCT supports body composition, performance, or recovery benefits. Its main distinguishing feature is appetite stimulation, which is consistently observed in animals.

Risks & unknowns

Increased appetite can lead to weight gain. Other expected effects include elevated GH/IGF-1, water retention, potential insulin resistance, and cortisol/prolactin increases. Long-term human safety is unstudied, and unregulated products carry contamination risks.

Legal / regulatory status

GHRP-6 is not FDA-approved and is prohibited by WADA under S2. It is illegal to market for human use.
