Educational content only — this is not medical advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, obtain, or use ARA-290. Talk to a licensed clinician before making health decisions.
What it is
ARA-290 is a synthetic peptide derived from erythropoietin. Unlike erythropoietin, it does not stimulate red blood cell production but selectively activates the innate repair receptor (a heterodimer of the erythropoietin receptor and beta-common receptor) to promote tissue repair and reduce inflammation.
What the evidence shows
Phase 2 trials in type 2 diabetes with neuropathy reported improvements in neuropathic symptoms and corneal nerve fiber regeneration. Trials in sarcoidosis-related fatigue showed improvements in fatigue scores. Larger Phase 3 trials are needed for regulatory approval.
Risks & unknowns
ARA-290 has been well tolerated in clinical trials, with headache, nausea, and injection-site reactions among the most common adverse events. Because it is investigational, long-term safety data are limited.
Legal / regulatory status
ARA-290 is not FDA-approved. It is available only through clinical trials. It may be prohibited by WADA under S2 or S0.
